The Context: Amber Heard x L’Oréal Paris
Amber Heard is a 32-year-old American actress and activist who rose to fame in 2008 after notable roles in Never Back Down and Pineapple Express. Since her 2004 film debut in the sports drama, Friday Night Lights, she has appeared in numerous films including 3 Days to Kill, The Danish Girl, and Justice League. Next up, Heard will share the screen with Elisabeth Moss in the film Her Smell, and will star in the highly anticipated blockbuster Aquaman, which has an expected release date of December 2018.
Outside of her acting career, Heard is an outspoken advocate on issues relating to underrepresented communities and women’s, children’s, and LGBTQ rights. She is also a campaigner for equality in Hollywood, calling for female characters, stories, and opportunities to be created by and for women. Heard also recently donated roughly seven figures from her divorce settlement with ex-husband Johnny Depp to charities focused on helping to stop violence against women, as well as the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. Her split with Johnny Depp was highly contentious and highly publicized.
While Amber Heard has previously done work with brands such as GUESS and Tiffany & Co., her partnership with L’Oréal Paris is her biggest deal yet. In the press release announcing their partnership, Heard said, “To become a spokesperson for this dynamic, world-loved beauty brand that’s been telling women we’re worth it since before I was born, and to join the L’Oréal Paris family of changemakers is such an honor. I feel like these women – my fellow ambassadors – represent a voice, a power, a movement, an opinion.”
Pierre-Emmanuel Angeloglou, Global President at L’Oréal Paris, commented, “One of a new generation of actresses rewriting the script when it comes to having a voice in the world, the energy Amber Heard brings to her philanthropy, to her advocacy and to her performances make her a powerful ambassador for L’Oréal Paris as we take ‘Because I’m Worth It’ beauty into 2018.”
Heard made her first appearance for L’Oréal Paris at the Cannes Film Festival 2018. She also stars in “The Worth It Show,” a talk show by L’Oréal Paris to honor women in cinema, beauty and beyond, inspired by the company’s slogan.
